Applique Pillows

A simple request made by mother “Please redo the coverings of these two pillows.” I won’t scare you by showing the original pillows that I made for her over 10 years ago. The stuffing was coming out of the middle of the pillow due to the fact that the fabric had gotten too thin. So what is a good daughter supposed to do…upgrade them.

A while ago I found this wonderful pattern by Amy Bradley designs called Campers. They were so adorable and versatile that I had to buy the pattern. Applique pattern to be precise. Now I’m just learning how to do applique but I figure everything in quilting is a little forgiving so why not applique. If interested in Campers just follow the link but you also search the web to get the best price. It was all pretty self explanatory however I am glad I did have a little experience with the fusible interfacing.

I really enjoyed picking out my fabrics. I actually used camping inspired pieces with little s’mores and chocolate bars, yumm. I was even able to get in some free motion quilting on my Camper inspired pillows. Actually my BIG inspiration came from the fact that my parents snowbird in Arizona at an RV park. I am hoping that they appreciate the Camper/RV pillows with all the little extras, like buttons for wheels and door knobs.

I hope my feeble attempt at these pillows inspire you to create and try something new..it’s only scary once, maybe twice!

Let me know what you decide to try and how well it goes.

Happy Quilting.
